Blackbox — suspended kinetic installation by DFFF Studio, red-lit hall

DFFF Studio — kinetic installations & spatial experiences

We build machines that perform.

Machines of steel, light and code — built for galleries, stages and dancefloors. Based in London, working internationally.

Studio

DFFF is an art installation studio in London. We make kinetic art installations and spatial experiences — machines that open, turn and breathe in front of an audience. Recent machines include a suspended kinetic system for dark rooms and a fabric membrane driven in real time by wind measured in Greenland.

Every work is designed, engineered and fabricated in-house, from first sketch to a structure hanging safely over a crowd. Alongside self-initiated works, DFFF takes on commissioned fabrication and custom installations for artists, curators, brands and event producers — working from concept sketches or visual references through structural design, electronic development, fabrication and final assembly. A recent commission travelled to Toronto and ran as a kinetic window installation, visible from the street.

The studio is based in London and works internationally, with builds delivered in Beijing, London and Toronto — for galleries, stages and dancefloors. Read more about the studio, or start with the selected work below.
